Core Rubrics in Unique Learning System address the transition readiness skill areas of employability, communication, self-advocacy, and social strategies.
Core Rubrics should be administered 2-4 times per year, based on the student’s need for individual assessment. Core Rubrics provide a score-able observation of the student’s transition readiness skills. Core Materials are provided within the instructional materials to serve as a basis for observation. Each Core Rubric has its own administration guide that gives specific instructions for each test prior to administration. Included in the guide are suggestions for administration, rationale, and instructions for the assessment, scoring details, and a hard copy of the assessment for offline use.
They are designed to record observational information on the current abilities of Unique Learners within the daily instructional tasks. Each area of assessment has six descriptors.
The Core Rubrics provide a baseline of service provider's evaluation information. These rubric scores should be used in connection with the Core Materials, specifically, the goal setting lesson that enables students to set their own goals for employability, communication, self-advocacy, daily living, and social strategies.
