The lessons and materials in Unique Learning System are designed to be presented in a variety of ways to support each student's individual needs for modification. They include options to use interactively online (iDoc) or in a printed version (PDF).
The iDoc is intended for interactive use and displays the parts of the activity that are interactive or have Text-to-Speech (TTS). Using Print from the left menu in the iDoc is typically used for printing a student's completed activity.
The PDF is intended for hard copy instruction. Prepare materials from the PDF for students who need a paper/pencil, cut + paste, Velcro, laminate, or another type of modified paper format. The PDF will include the appropriate materials to support this type of activity.
For this reason, some parts of a lesson will not appear in the iDoc and only in the PDF. An example of this would be the answer cards for comprehension questions in the Middle School Chapter Book. In the iDoc, the puzzle tray includes the answers so there is no need for the answer card sheet in this format.
In the PDF, the answers are included on a printable page to cut apart and use as manipulative cards.
The Printing Guide, located in the Tools and PowerPoint Files section of the left menu of the Unit Lessons page, provides page ranges for each level or section of the activity. Use this guide to print the pages needed for instruction. Additionally, the guide gives suggestions on how each part of an activity might be presented best (laminated, card stock, color vs. black and white).
