Polaris is purchased in packs of 10 student seats rather than individual teacher licenses. This allows flexibility in licensing users and for student access. You can seat any number of students up to the maximum number of seats purchased. This is done by assigning a license to a teacher and then seating the appropriate number of students from their classroom.
A single teacher license can seat a single student or multiple students in any combination that totals the number of purchased student seats. You can have any number of licensed teachers up to the number of purchased student seats.
For example, if two packs of 10 student seats were purchased, you can have any combination of teachers licensed and students seated up to 20 students. A single teacher can seat all 20 students or 20 teachers can seat one student each.
To View the Number of Student Seats Available
- Select Manage Subscriptions from the My Account Menu.
- Select View by Subscription Group.
- The leftmost column displays the subscription group's friendly name, subscription owner name and student seats used / total number of student seats purchased.
To Assign a Teacher License
- As the subscription manager, log into n2y.com.
- From the menu in the upper left, select Manage Subscriptions from the My Account Menu.
- Select the desired Polaris Subscription.
- Select the add users button in the upper right.
- Select Single User Setup.
- Search by the desired teacher’s email address.
- If the user already exists their name will populate and you can select Continue. If the user does not exist, enter their first and last name to continue on to create the new user.
- Select continue.
- Complete the User Survey for recommendations and assistance on assigning roles and licenses (This step is optional. If you select ”Skip”, proceed to step 13. Please note option availability varies based on account details).
- Select Continue.
- Answer any questions and select Continue as needed. (Options will vary based on your survey answers).
- Select Finish and Apply.
- Select the Add Role button, desired options and the Save & Next button for each additional role you add to the user.
- Select the Add License button, desired options, and Save & Next button for each additional license you add to the user.
To Seat a Student
Licensed users can seat students directly from their student’s page by adding them to the classroom and then using the Student Access button.
Subscription Managers can manage student seating following the steps below.
- Select Manage Faculty & Students from the My Account Menu.
- Locate the desired user.
- Select the 3 dots on the right of the user card and select Manage Roster.
- Select the Manage Seating button in the lower left of the Manage Roster window.
- Select the check box in the desired solution column for the appropriate students.
