Selected activities in L3 Skills offer accessibility features. These include closed captioning and navigational features that vary based on the accessibility options native to the device that is being used. Additionally, L3 Skills also offers single switch activities that support USB single switch play.
Searching and Filtering
Search in L3 Skills by selecting the magnifying glass in the upper right-hand corner to expand the search menu. Teachers can search with keywords by typing in the search box that appears. The Web Accessibility Icon will be present to indicate games that support accessibility features for those with visual and hearing impairments.
Quickly filter search results by selecting the “Only Games with Accessibility” toggle.
Teachers can also limit the search results to Single Switch activities by using the “Cause and Effect” category or the “Single Switch” tag. This can be accomplished by selecting the filter button in the search bar and selecting from one of the appropriate drop-down menus.
The Single Switch tag can also be selected in the search results after searching a key term or browsing by age group.
Enabling Accessibility
For games that display the Web Accessibility Icon, Teachers must enable accessibility options per student in order for them to experience the features. Please note that single switch activities support a single touch of a switch, space bar or touch screen without enabling accessibility. Enable accessibility by following these steps:
- Sign in to n2y.com
-
Select the menu in the upper left-hand corner and select the Students tab.
-
Select the settings
icon by the desired student.
- Expand Solutions Settings.
- Expand L3 Skills.
- Check the Enable Accessibility check box.
-
Save.
This will allow the student to experience the accessibility options for any activities assigned to them with the Web Accessibility Icon.
After taking these steps, the Web Accessibility Icon will appear next to each student who has accessibility enabled from the Manage Games tab in L3 Skills.
Interacting With Accessibility Features
Closed captioning provides on-screen text, allowing students to view both speech and non-speech elements in the activities. It will appear for all audio built into the activity for any student that has both accessibility enabled and is interacting with an activity that supports accessibility features.
Students can navigate by advancing through a cycle of selections. Selections are indicated on the screen by a yellow outline. These navigation functions of the accessibility features vary by device.
PC Browsers
Students accessing via a personal computer browser can navigate via keyboard shortcuts.

When the device’s native accessibility feature is set to on (Voice Assistant), the user can swipe left and right to navigate through the 5 buttons.
Students can also select the desired button with a single tap. The button action can be performed using a double tap.
iOS
When the accessibility features are set to on (VoiceOver), the user can drag their finger across the screen to move the selection highlighter on the different objects. As soon as the user lifts their finger, a voiceover will be played that tells the user the name of the selected item.
