In Unique Learning System’s preschool through high school grade bands, science and social studies instructional targets are addressed over the course of a three-year cycle. Our monthly themes are carefully chosen to ensure that the majority of state and national standards in each grade band are addressed within the three-year cycle.
To assist with pacing, monthly themes for all units in the three-year cycle are provided to subscriptions. Please see the alignment documents, located under the Teacher Reference Materials, for a list of units where specific standards are addressed as well as the Year Topics section for a list of topics throughout the three-year cycle by grade band.
Sometimes educators may need to address science or social studies standards outside of the three-year cycle provided. Unique Learning System’s Science and Social Studies Courses are additional materials provided to meet this need. These are provided at the intermediate, middle school, and high school grade bands for science and social studies.
These courses are accessible on-demand, allowing educators to pace with general education classrooms, to match the district pacing guide or to fulfill accessible course requirements. Each course includes a book, discussion questions, comprehension questions, and an experiment or hands-on activity to be completed over 3-5 days and provide a full week of instruction.
Note: Educators will only be able to access the courses that match their grade band. This helps to ensure that students are provided age appropriate standards-based materials. Limiting these materials also decreases the likelihood of a student completing the same course twice unless the course is purposely reintroduced by the educator.
