Flexible schedule options are available in Positivity to help you modify your schedule on the fly. This functionality should be used when you need to make adjustments quickly, such as when your class is running over or you need to quickly switch subjects. Schedule changes that are planned should be made through the schedule page.
Flexible schedule options are available for two types of events, current and next. They can be accessed for all schedules via the Class Actions Panel.
For the Master Schedule, they can also be made from the Class Visual Schedule via the teacher login.
Current events can be ended or extended.
Selecting End Now will result in the current event ending immediately. The next event will not start until the scheduled time. Any Notes of Incidents recorded after an event has ended, and before the next event starts, will be listed as occurring during an Unscheduled Event.
Selecting Extend will allow you to select a preset or custom amount of time to add to your current event Any overlapping time between your newly extended event and your next event will be subtracted from the next event. If this exceeds the total time of the next event it will be deleted and any overlapping time will be deleted from the following event.
Events that occur Next can be cancelled, started, or swapped.
Selecting Cancel removes the next event from your schedule. The following event moves into the next position on the Visual Schedule.
Selecting Start Now ends the current event and begins the next event. The event will remain current for the number of minutes it was originally allotted. A gap for any remaining time will immediately follow. For example, an event that was scheduled from 9:00 am to 9:30 am, and starts at 8:55 am, will last still last for 30 minutes and end at 9:25 am . A five minute gap will occur at the end of the event before the next event. If this is not the desired intention, you can extend the current event to fill the gap.
Selecting swap will cause the next event and the following event to switch places. They will be available for the same amount of time as originally indicated, just occurring in a different order.
Alerts can be set up when adding or editing events as a reminder that it’s time to transition to the next event. These alerts can be added to the Master or student schedules.
To add an alert:
- Sign in to n2y.com.
- Select the turquoise heart to launch Positivity.
- Select the desired schedule.
- Select the desired schedule tab (Today, Daily or Weekly).
- Select the pencil icon to edit the Activity.
- Select the checkbox to Alert Before Ending.
- Enter the number of minutes before the class ends for when you want the alert to start.
- Select the Save button.
For the amount of time selected, the event in the Visual Schedule will turn pink and pulse on the minute mark counting down to the number of minutes indicated. On the Master Schedule, this can serve as a great reminder for teachers that they may need to select one of the previously mentioned Flexible Schedule Options.
