n2y has expanded the design tools in custom SymbolStix PRIME boards and Positivity Strategies for additional functionality, improved efficiency and a consistent user experience. The updates include your favorite existing tools now available in both solutions, as well as brand new design tools. Updates include:
- Symbolize Tool
- Paragraph Alignment
- Undo and Redo Actions
- Add and Rotate Shapes and Lines
- Copy and Paste Functionality
- Edit Speech Order
- Select Multiple Elements
- Alignment and Distribution Tools
- Grid Lines
- Arrange Elements from Top to Bottom
These updates will be available in the updated editing menu. Please note that these features are limited to Custom Boards in SymbolStix PRIME and Positivity strategy creation.
The Symbolize Tool allows symbols to automatically populate as you type and generates a single line of symbol-supported text.
Select and drag the Symbolize Text element to the canvas. Select the “Symbolize” text to activate the cursor, then double click to highlight and begin typing over the “Symbolize” text.
Users have the option to add symbols or images for text that does not auto-populate or replace auto-populated symbols with their preferred photo or symbol.
Subscribers with access to both Positivity and SymbolStix PRIME will have access to over 90,000 symbols in the SymbolStix library. On its own, Positivity includes 100 searchable symbols.
Single Line or Multiline Text elements include the option to left, center or right align text.
Undo and Redo Actions
Use the Undo action arrow to quickly remove the last change made. Use the Redo button to repeat the change you last made.
Add and Rotate Shapes and Lines
Use the drag and drop functionality to add shapes or lines to the canvas. Add shapes to help visually group or separate items, provide contrast, add visual interest and more. Lines can be used to provide definition, underline words and include arrows for simple workflows. Rotate shapes and lines to change orientation, display incline or declines, or add visual interest.
Copy and Paste Functionality
Select an element on the canvas and then the Copy Shape and then the Paste Shape symbols to quickly duplicate an element and its properties.
Edit Speech Order
Select the Include in Speak Page checkbox in the properties menu for each element as needed to enable text-to-speech. Then select the Speech icon to change the order it reads on the page. Use the drag handles to select and drag to ensure the page is read in the order you intended.
Select Multiple Elements
With the Pan Lock toggled off, select and drag to select multiple elements on the canvas. Alternatively, use the shift or control key on the keyboard to select multiple elements. Then modify properties or use alignment tools to update all of the selected elements at once.
Alignment and Distribution Tools
Selecting one element on the page enables the ability to align to top edges, vertical centers, bottoms edges, left edges, horizontal centers or right edges of the canvas.
Selecting two elements enables the ability to align to top edges, vertical centers, bottoms edges, left edges, horizontal centers or right edges of the two elements.
Selecting three or more elements enables the ability to align to top edges, vertical centers, bottoms edges, left edges, horizontal centers or right edges of the elements to the first one selected as well as equally distribute the selected elements horizontally or vertically. Please note that the vertical or horizontal distance is determined by the two selected elements that are farthest from each other.
Toggle Grid Lines on for visual aid in aligning elements. The edges and centers of selected elements will snap to the vertical and/or horizontal center for quick alignment. Toggle Grid Lines off, or use arrow keys on the keyboard if you desire to have an element positioned slightly off from the center lines.
Arrange Elements From Top to Bottom
Select Move to Top or Move to Bottom to allow elements to stack on top of one another.
