The goal of the lesson itself, as well as the specific activity, contributes to which level of the book is used during instruction. The corresponding lesson plans for reading instruction outline each activity's goal within the lesson and provide differentiated student participation expectations. It is likely that multiple levels of the same book will be used to complete a single lesson. The level of books in the unit lessons vary and not all reading levels will be available for each book in the lessons.
Leveled Books and Chapter books are available at multiple levels to encourage a whole class shared reading experience (at the highest reading level available) and the opportunity for individual skills practice (at the appropriate reading level provided.) The level of book provided for individual skills practice is determined by the Reading Level Priority settings.
Easy Read Books are available at one level intended for a whole class shared reading experience. In Student View for that activity, the student sees that one level regardless of the Reading Level Priority setting.
