Unique Learning System offers two different types of assessments, Checkpoints that measure short-term growth and Benchmarks that measure long-term growth.
Monthly Checkpoints are designed as a pre- and post-assessment of skills presented in each monthly unit. The same key skills are measured each month and assess what a student knows before and after instruction. Checkpoints assist teachers in identifying instructional goals, as well as monitoring the level of growth following instruction.
Benchmark Assessments measure individual skills and do not change across grade bands from year to year. They should be chosen based on the individual's needs for assessment in select skill areas. We recommend completing Benchmark assessments two to four times per year.
